I have received several questions from residents about the completion of the Rumble Pond Stormwater Management Pond Project so I wanted to supply more information on the details and progress of this project. The construction work has taken longer than originally anticipated, but it is expected to wrap up this summer. Stormwater ponds are an important piece of infrastructure as they help to keep flood waters at bay during significant rain events and spring run offs. Evidence of the destruction that floods can cause can be seen in the aftermath of the storm that caused so much damage in Toronto last summer. On a more daily basis these ponds help to protect aquatic habitats and enhance our natural and urban environments.
The project is expected to be completed by the start of summer. Please visit RichmondHill.ca/RumblePond for further information on this innovative project.
