I had the pleasure of attending the Richmond Hill Public Library Photography, Art, Poetry and Short Story Contest Awards Evening. I have judged the photography part of the contest since it began, and was once again impressed with the quality of the work submitted by our young people. Kudos to the Richmond Hill Library for hosting this contest and supporting the Arts in our community!
I am a strong believer that offering children the opportunity for a solid Arts education can sew the seeds for later learning. In the past I have taught photography to children as a teacher and as a volunteer and I am always impressed with the artistic ability that children have. Photography is a powerful means of communication and it is great to see children being given the opportunity to use photography to communicate their unique point of view through their work.
