Mill Pond Splash a Huge Success

It was a great day at the 16th Annual Mill Pond Splash and it was an honour to be a part of the Steering Committee and also an honour to be the Emcee for the event. For the first time in many years the weather was perfect and a large number of people turned out to be a part of this Celebration of our Environment and the Don River Watershed. It was great to see so many fellow Richmond Hill Residents taking such an active interest in the environment that is so close to home. Mill Pond Park is located at the toe of the Oak Ridges Moraine – the landform that marks the start of many GTA rivers like the Don, The Rouge, and the Humber.

As such we have a special obligation in Richmond Hill to protect and nurture this important part of our natural environment. For the past 16 years The Mill Pond Splash has shone a spotlight on the important role that Rivers, Creeks and Steams have in the health and vibrancy of our Natural Environment. All of the residents, young and older,

Thanks very much to the TRCA for spearheading this great event and to all the sponsors, supporters and the army of volunteers that dedicate their time to making this festival possible. At the end of the day our whole community wins because of this effort!

Reptiles at Risk was one of many presenters at the Splash. Reptiles are obviously a big hit with the kids!!!!
