Election Day Countdown

Countdown to the Richmond Hill Municipal Election

 October 27th, 2014

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, I was reminded of the many things that I have to be thankful for. First on that list is my family, followed closely by my many friends and colleagues.

Over the past several months, I have also learned that I am thankful for the opportunity to represent Ward 4 as a member of the Richmond Hill Town Council. I have been very touched and buoyed by the support you have all given me during the past several months as I have campaigned to return to Town Council as the Ward 4 Councillor, and I want you all to know that I am committed to doing my best to represent each one of you over the next four years.

Over the past several months, I have criss-crossed the Ward, knocking on doors and talking to as many residents as I can. I have recently published a summary of my platform, which has incorporated a considerable amount of the feedback I’ve heard about what matters to the residents of Ward 4. I hope that you have an opportunity to read it and I hope that you will reach out with any thoughts, comments, kudos or suggestions on the things that matter to you.

At this time, I want to reach out to ask each of you to help me with one of the most important components of this election campaign… getting out the vote.   As you have no doubt been reading, the voter turnout in 2010 in Richmond Hill was one of the lowest rates of any municipality in the GTA and I, and my campaign team, are committed to helping to reverse this trend this year.   Only by voting can we all be sure that we get the representation that we deserve.

So please, make the effort to get out and vote on October 27th, 2014 or at one of the advance polls (information follows). Just as importantly, please encourage your neighbours to get out and vote as well – let us all try to achieve or exceed the Liberal newspaper’s editorial team objective of having more than 50% of eligible voters cast their votes in this year’s Richmond Hill municipal election.

If you haven’t yet received your Voter’s Card, please contact the Town at Access Richmond Hill at 905-771-5555 to confirm if you are on the list or to be added to the list if required.

On October 27th, 2014 we will be providing transportation to the polls for anyone who needs a ride… please don’t hesitate to send me a note at [email protected]  and we’ll get back to you with specifics. We can also help you with obtaining a proxy vote form if you are unable to vote at any of the advance polls or on October 27th, 2014.

Thanks again for your support and I look forward to continuing to represent you, and all the residents of Ward 4, on the Richmond Hill Town Council over the next four years.

 Sincerely,

 David
