It was a busy weekend in the community. Friday I had the pleasure of attending the Festival of Lights presented by Arts Richmond Hill. Mayor Dave, Councillor Nick Papa, myself, and Santa Claus lit the tree in front of the McConaghy Centre with an exciting countdown. – The Holiday Season has officially begun in our Town!
I also attended a great fund-raising dinner in support of the Indian Senior’s Club. Raj Sethi is the president of this Club – what a great and tireless community volunteer.
On Saturday I bought a coffee at our Second Cup at Canyon Hill and Yonge in Support of We Can Change the World. This is a group run by young people including our very own Brennan Wong and supported by Heather Skoll. They are working to produce positive change for people in Africa who are less fortunate than us. A great initiative by a local group of young people!
To round the weekend off I had the pleasure of being a part of the Santa Claus Parade. What a fun event this is. It was heartwarming to see so many excited children (and adults too) waving enthusiastically at us – but make no mistake they were really just warming up for the main event at the end of the parade – Santa Claus!
