I had the pleasure of a tour of the newly renovated Hilltop Place Retirement Home Open House on Sunday. Hilltop Place has been a long time part of our community and these new renovations compliment this beautiful facility. Thank you Spring Living Retirement Communities for the invitation.
While there I had the pleasure of speaking to a number of the residents including Betty. I had noticed Betty’s Queen’s Platinum Jubilee pin that she wore. She was born and raised in England and told me her vivid childhood recollection of the day King George died unexpectedly and Queen Elizabeth became queen. She said her classes were cancelled to mark the occasion and she even remembered the headlines in the late edition newspaper telling the news.
I have often thought the best stories of history are from those that were there! I am looking forward to celebrating #SeniorsMonth in June and to hearing many more fascinating tales.
